Learn how to cut glass before you dive into this new exciting art. The first session will be devoted to safety and cutting skills. The second session will be all about acquiring knowledge that lets you know “what happens to this when I do that!” The third and fourth sessions will be packed full of knowledge, but you get to choose the project. We provide the materials for the first and second class. You get to pick the glass for the next two classes.
This is a fast paced class designed to teach you the skills needed to enjoy creating fused glass. We start out with safety first and proceed in a linear fashion from cutting glass to finished projects. No need to buy a kit or tools since you will learn by using our equipment. The only things you will need for the first class are a notebook, a pair of athletic shoes, and an enthusiasm for learning. If you have a good pair of safety glasses, bring them. If not, we sell many brands of safety glasses including glasses with reading lenses built in.
Each class runs 2.5 hours with the exception of the first session which will take up to 3.5 hours due to introductions and the emphasis on safety. The actual time in class will be used learning to build fused glass. You may need to plan extra time in the classroom to complete your assignment before the next class.
We limit this class to eight students so each student receives the attention needed to enjoy this art. There are plenty of tools for each student and ample space for learning. You will complete two projects in this class.
Our instructors are serious about the stained glass arts. They are up-to-date on the latest information and skills available. Several times a year our main instructor, Rebecca Hite, takes classes from Masters around the country in order to bring you the best information from the Stained Glass Industry.
NOTICE: The majority of time spent in class is dedicated to lecture and learning. You will be expected to spend time outside of class to complete the assignment before the next scheduled class. You are encouraged to use the classroom to do your homework.
