This is a fast paced class designed to teach you the skills needed to enjoy creating stained glass. We will be working with the copper foil method to learn the basic stained glass skills. We start out with safety first and proceed in a linear fashion from cutting glass to a finished project. No need to buy a kit or tools since you will learn by using our equipment. The only things you will need for the first class are a pair of athletic shoes and an enthusiasm for learning. If you have a good pair of safety glasses, bring them with you. If not, we sell many brands of safety glasses including glasses with reading lenses built in.
Each class runs three hours with the exception of the first session which will take up to 4 hours due to introductions and the emphasis on safety. The actual time in class will be used learning stained glass skills. You will need to plan for extra time in the classroom in order to complete your assignment before the next class.
We limit this class to 6 students so that each student receives the attention needed to gain full knowledge and understanding. There are plenty of tools for each student and ample space for learning. You will complete two projects in this class including a suncatcher and a panel approximately 11” x 14”.
Our instructors are serious about the stained glass arts. They are up-to-date on the latest information and skills available. Several times a year our main instructor, Rebecca Hite, takes classes from Masters around the country in order to bring you the best information from the Stained Glass Industry.
NOTICE: The majority of time spent in class is dedicated to lecture and learning. You will be expected to spend time outside of class to complete the assignment before the next scheduled class. You are encouraged to use the classroom to do your homework.
